Wrath of Killenstein - Same

Endlich komme ich dazu euch diese Band auch von ihrer musikalischen Seite vorzustellen. Das Album wurde mir von Killenstein persönlich zugeschickt, nach dem wir auf der Webseite das Interview mit ihm veröffentlicht hatten. Das er eine sehr durchgeknallte, aber ernstzunehmende Person ist, hat er ja schon im Interview bewiesen. Nun musste seine Musik halten was versprochen wurde und sie hält es. Das Album ist zwar schon aus dem Jahr 2000, doch das tut dem Ganzen keinen Abbruch. Der einzige Wehrmutstropfen an der CD, ist die Tatsache, das sie nur eine halbe Stunde lang ist. In dieser wird aber ein gewaltiger Eindruck des Genies von Wrath of Killenstein vermittelt. Gut, man könnte jetzt noch meckern das man WOK nicht einfach in eine der gängigen Schubladen stecken kann, denn dafür ist ihre Musik einfach zu vielschichtig. Eine andere Band als Vergleich zu nennen ist auch schwer möglich, außer Death SS aus Italien ähneln den durchgeknallten Rockern aus New Jersey ein wenig.

Wrath of Killenstein bieten eine abwechslungsreiche und verdammt originelle Mischung aus Moderne und Tradition, die da an das Ohr des Zuhörers gelangt. Kommt man nach dem Intro mit „Igniisis Dance“ erst noch modern stampfend daher, schlägt das Lied im Mittelteil in recht Old-Schoolige -Knüppelei um. Die Band arbeitet viel mit abgefahrenen Keyboard-Sounds und Samplen, welche der Musik eine modernen Anstrich geben. Vom Riffing her kommt man aber aus der guten alten Zeit. Sänger Killenstein bietet uns ein sehr umfangreiches Repertoire was seinen Gesang betrifft, vom kehligen Röcheln, tiefen Seufzern bis hin zum hysterischen Geschrei deckt er eine breit Gefühlpalette ab, die seine persönlichen Texten, die nötige Schwere geben. Einige Lieder setzten sich nicht sofort ins Ohr sondern müssen schon das ein oder andere Mal gehört werden. Dafür sind meine beiden Lieblingsstücke „The Raptus“ und „Born of Evil“ mit einem geilen Hookline-Refrain gesegnet, den man sich nicht entziehen kann. Der absolute Höhepunkt der CD, ist ohne Frage, das düstere und psychopathisch angelegte „Whorella“, hier gibt es noch einen Gastsänger. Das Stück dürfte ohne Zweifel der große Hit von Wrath of Killenstein sein. Sucht ihr eine Band, die noch nicht auf ausgelatschten Pfaden wandert, aber immer noch voll Heavy Metal ist und schreckt euch ein geiles Gimmick nicht ab, dann sollte ihr unbedingt bei www.killenstein.com vorbeisurfen und euch diese CD sichern.
