In this day and age of repetitive music along comes a unique band called Vox Tempus. Listening to the nine tracks on the CD I would have to say there is really not one bad track on this disc at all. The band is a mix between Stryper and Dream Theater, and the keyboards added to the mix give the music a dream-like quality. The band formed in 1997 as Equinox. Releasing one CD (Color of the Time) which reach the top 20 on the charts in Europe and Japan. In 1998 they added Eric Ragno on keyboards and there were several changes with vocalists settling on Dan Reed. Years gone by and as mixing began on the new CD their drummer choose to move on. The band changes their name to Vox Tempus and brought in Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth). The CD debuted at the ProgPower festival in Atlanta 2004. After listening to the CD, vocalist Dan Reed, has to be one of my favorite new vocalists. This guy put it all together, with power and a change of ranges in every song. If you’re into melodic sounds with some great musicians check out track five. "Revelations" has hints of Styx (Dennis DeYoung). Guitarist Ray Mantor has the perfect sounds blending with the keyboards that sound like an orchestra. When you pick up this CD you will see just how good this band is. The production is “A plus”. Track six "What About" focus more on the keyboards giving Ragno a chance to show the world that he is a prodigy, although this song is a little lengthy but it still manages to keep your attention and is a killer tune. . Track seven "Voice of Time" is an instrumental that could have been left off the CD. It was good, but I would rather have heard more of vocalist Dan Reed. "Love, Lies and Treason" music reminded me of a mellow "Pull Me Under" by Dream Theater and is just as lengthy thirteen minutes and thirty eight seconds. "Love, Lies and Treason is an epic sound which is good but at times I started drifting taking my headphones off to do something else and coming back to still hear the same notes (yes another lengthy song). All in all this is one fantastic debut CD. The last track is "Steal the Moment" really showing the pipes on Mr. Reed .The song is a killer ballad that ends with the sounds of rain hitting the ground (nice touch).
