Vixen - Same

Wer noch nie von der Frauenband Vixen gehört hat, ist selber Schuld. Ja, ja der etwas verrufene Name war von den Damen schon gut gewählt. Auf jeden Fall haben sie die ganze Rockszene ziemlich aufgewühlt, wie auch schon Lita Ford, Lee Aaron, Chrissy Steele ihnen zuvor. Vier total gut aussehende Rockladies auf dem Weg zum Ruhm. Wer würde da nicht neidisch werden! Gegründet wurde Vixen von Jan Kuehnemund, der Gitarristin, in Minnesota and brachte die Band mit Janet Gardner als Sängerin, Share Pedersen am Bass und Roxy Petrucci am Schlagzeug, nach Los Angeles mitte der 80iger Jahre. Sie wurden durch ihre Single „Edge Of A Broken Heart“ und ihrem geilen Videoclip dazu, der auf MTV andauernd gespielt wurde, recht berühmt. Der Stil ist vielleicht für manche etwas zu soft, jedoch ist der Song ein typischer Ohrenwurm. Gardners rauchige Rockröhre dröhnt nur so bei jedem Song und gibt den Songs einen gewissen Touch. Der andere gut runtergespielte Song war „Cryin“. Hier kommt Janets Stimme auch sehr vorteilhaft zum Vorschein und macht den Song wieder etwas weicher. „I Want You To Rock Me“, „American Dream“, „Desperate“, „One Night Alone“, „Hell Raisers“, „Love Made Me“, „Waiting“, „Cruisin´“ und „Charmed Life“ sind im Mid-Tempo und keine Kracher. Die Songs sind zwar klasse, aber auch irgendwie zu einfach zum Singen. Die Mädchen wussten einfach zu Rocken. Ob man sie aber in die Rock-Sammlung aufnehmen muss, ist jedem selbst überlassen.

I Want You To Rock Me“, „American Dream“, „Desperate“, „One Night Alone“, „Hell Raisers“, „Love Made Me“, „Waiting“, „Cruisin´“ and „Charmed Life“ are in the mid-speed and no bangers. The songs are slap-up but also somehow too simply for the singing. The girls simply knew to distaffs. Whether one, however, must include them in the rock collection is left to everybody itself.
