Terra Nova - Escape

Eine Melodic Rock Band, die ein Album unter dem Titel „Escape“ raus bringt, muss schon einiges an Selbstbewusstsein mitbringen. Denn um die Klasse von Journey’s Meisterwerk zu erreichen, braucht es schon einiges an sehr guten Songs. Und deshalb schob ich die Scheibe erst mal mit der Erwartung enttäuscht zu werden in den Player. Aber ich muss sagen, dass Terra Nova mit ihrem Album Titel zwar immer noch sehr hoch gegriffen haben, doch es befinden sich einige sehr gute Songs drauf, die mit vom besten sind, was ich bisher aus dem Hause Frontiers gehört habe. Das mag sicher auch ein bisschen an Hausproduzent Serafino Perugino liegen, der ja erst kürzlich mit Blanc Faces schon an einem wirklich guten Album beteiligt war. Von den einzelnen Bandmitgliedern habe ich bisher noch nichts gehört, und komme deswegen sofort zum musikalischen Teil.

Das Ganze geht mit dem wohl besten Song des Albums los. „Long live Rock n’ Roll“ rockt supergeil ab und bringt einen schlagartig in Stimmung. Echt coole Gitarren und Keyboardparts, als wären die 80er nie weg gewesen. Auch die weiteren Stücke halten sich deutlich im Rock Bereich. Mit den Songs Nummer vier „Heaven knows“ und der Nummer sieben „You’re the one“ sind auch zwei ganz nette Balladen an Board, die neben dem rocklastigen Material aber fast zu Pflichtnummern verkommen.

Weiterhin muss auf jeden Fall noch der Titeltrack, die Nummer fünf erwähnt werden, die noch sehr gut rockt und auch die Nummer zehn „Back in the eighties“, dessen Text wohl jedem Sleaze-metal.com User aus der Seele sprechen wird. Der fulminante Abschluss von Escape ist dann Song Nummer elf „Part of the game“, der noch mal richtig reinhaut und einem all das gibt, was man an rockigem AOR so liebt.

Zum Abschluss kann ich das Album nur noch mal allen ans Herz legen. Die Musik ist gut, das Coverartwork ist gut und im Vergleich zu dem, was Journey auf ihrem Generationen Album bringen, muss man sagen das Terra Nova im Melodic Bereich zurzeit das Maß aller Dinge sind. Weiter so, Jungs!

A Melodic Rock Band that publishes a record titled „Escape“ has to have quite a lot self confidence. Because it needs quite an amount of good songs to reach the outstanding level of perfection of Journey’s masterpiece. And therefore I expected disappointment when I put the disc into the player. But I have to say that, although it can’t really keep up with the aforementioned album, it contains some very good songs, which make Escape the best record by Frontiers I have heard so far. This might also partly be the result of the work of producer Serafino Perugino, who has just participated in a very good record with Blanc Faces. Because I don’t know anything about the band members I’ll go right to the music.

It starts with what is probably the best song of the record. „Long live Rock n’ Roll“ really rocks and brings you right into a good mood. The cool guitar and keyboardparts sound as if the 80s had never been away. The further sons are as well from the fast rock section. With tracks number four “Heaven knows” and number seven “You are the one” there also some quite good ballads included, but next to all the rock stuff they seem to be a bit lost. Furthermore the titletrack has to be mentioned which rocks quite well and song number ten “Back in the eighties” whose text comes right out of the heart of every sleaze-metal.com user. Track number eleven “Part of the game” is the incredible great final of Escape, which once more drives you crazy and offers all you love about rocking AOR.

As conclusion I really have to recommend Escape to everybody. The music is fantastic, the cover artwork is fantastic and compared to what Journey does on their generations album, one has to say that right now Terra Nova is the best in the melodic sector. Keep it up, guys!
