Sudden Death - Unpure Burial

“Sudden Death” was so viel heißt wie der “plötzliche Tod” und im Eishockey ein Tor nach Verlängerung bedeutet, ist auch der Name einer neuen Band aus den vereinigten Staaten von Amerika. Die fünf Jungs aus Angola versuchen sich im Extrem Metal und schlagen sich bis über weite Strecken recht ordentlich. Die Riffs knallen beim Opener „Cold“ und beim aggressiven „You Don’t give a Fuck“ solide aus den Boxen, auf die Dauer wird das Gerumpel aber sehr eintönig und bei mir macht sich eine kleine Depression bemerkbar. Klar ein „Living & Dying“ knallt ganz schön, „Damn“ erinnert an „Slipknot“ aber so richtig Freude kommt nie auf. Die Produktion kann man als amtlich bezeichnen, für diese Art von Musik ist die Abmischung ideal, der Sound zeigt sich in einem fetten Gewand und die Drums dröhnen aus den Lautsprechern wie Raketen. Das Gegrunze von Sänger „Jon Kaufman“ behagt mir nicht immer, noch schlimmer ist es aber wenn er versucht mit cleanen Vocals zu singen wie bei „My Left Shoulder“ hier merkt man relativ schnell das er nicht singen kann. Schlecht ist „Unpure Burial“ auf keinen Fall, wer auf Extrem Metal steht, will wahrscheinlich eben genau diese Mucke hören. Für mich persönlich ist das nichts, auch wenn die Band aufs Gaspedal drückt macht sich bei mir ein Gähnen breit und zwar aus dem Grund dass sich eben vieles sehr gleich anhört.

The riffs blast solid out of the speakers at the opener “Cold” and at the aggressive “You Don’t give a Fuck”, but on the while the junk gets monotonous and a little depression makes it noticeable at me. Sure, “Living & Dying” blast very nice, “Damn” reminds to “Slipknot”, but real pleasure never comes up. You can consider the production as official, for this kind of music, the mix is perfect, the sound shines itself in a fat dress and the drums out of the speakers sounds like rockets. The growling of singer “Jon Kaufman” always don’t ease me, it’s yet worse when he tries to sing with clean vocals like at “My Left Shoulder” here, you notice relative quick, that he can’t sing. “Unpure Burial” insn’t bad in no case, who tends to extreme metal will probably listen to this music. Personal for me, it’s nothing, when the band also press the gas pedal, a yawn comes at me and the reason is, much of it sounds the same. (Translation by Dominic)
