State of Mind - Memory Lane

Schweden scheint wieder stark im Kommen zu sein. Also dachte ich mir, krame ich ein bisschen in meiner Sammlung und siehe da, habe auch tatsächlich wieder eine gefunden, die ich euch ans Herz legen muss. Die Band, die ich meine heißt State Of Mind und wurde unter dem deutschen Label MTM als „Classix“ herausgebracht. Die Schweden haben eine Mini-CD „Dream Those Dreams“ 1993 und 1995 „Mother“ veröffentlicht, wobei das zweite Album jedoch nur in Japan erschienen ist. Auf dem Re-release „Memory Lane“ hat man also zwei Songs von ihrer ersten CD und acht Songs vom zweiten Album draufgepackt. Das einzig Neue darauf sind die zwei bisher unveröffentlichten Songs „Hang Tough“ und „Gypsy Rave“. State of Mind wurde Anfang 1987 gegründet. Viele Sänger kamen und gingen wieder bevor Conny Lind zum Line-Up hinzugefügt wurde. Hört man sich die ersten Songs an, weiß man eigentlich schon welche Richtung das ganze Album anschlägt. Bands wie TNT, Van Halen, Whitesnake oder auch Damn Yankees sind hier anzusetzen. Wie man so ähnliche Gesangsstrukturen, Spieltechnik und Songtexte zu Van Halen herstellen kann ist schon nahe zu unglaublich. Ihr Sound ist total dem Melodikhardrock verschrieben mit einem gewissen bluesigem Touch. Mir persönlich gefällt dieser Sound ganz gut, wobei viele meiner Bekannten eher dagegen halten und dazu plädieren, dass diese Scheibe nicht unbedingt was Neues ist und daher mehr nebensächlich zu sein scheint. Natürlich wirkt das Album nach mehrmaligem Durchgang nicht mehr so interessant auf mich, wie am Anfang, was recht schade ist. Die Melodie und Spieltechnik lassen ziemlich nach, das Schlagzeug weckt eigentlich keinen auf und die Gitarren wirken recht fad. Sicher überzeugt Conny Lind sein können am Gesang, aber richtig warm werde ich mit ihm nicht. Freunde, der bereits genannten Bands können ohne mit der Wimper zu zucken einen Blick auf „Memory Lane“ riskieren. Hätte ich aber nie unter „Classix“ herausgebracht. Bildet selber eure Meinung!

The band i meant called State Of Mind and get under the german label MTM as „Classix“ released. State Of Mind was formed in the beginning of 1987. Many vocalists came and went before Conny Lind was added to the Line-Up. If you listen the first songs you will know which way of the music style they make. Bands like TNT, Van Halen, Whitesnake or even Damn Yankees I would say. How one is able to produce so similar song structures, play technology and song texts like Van Halen is quite close too incredibly. Their sound is totally prescribed for the melody hard rock with a certain blues touch. I personally like this sound quite well and many of my friends hold rather against it and plead to the fact that this disc is nothing new and seems to be more secondary not necessary. Of course it´s getting more boring after a time what is really a pity. The melody and play technology decrease quite, the drums don´t wake someone and the guitars look rather tasteless. Certainly convinced Conny Lind on the songs, but really warm I don´t get with him. Friends of those mentioned bands before can always have a look on this CD. Choose your own meaning!
