Spiders & Snakes - Hollywood Ghosts

Die “Spiders & Snakes” melden sich mit einer Reunion im neuen Jahr zurück. In der Besetzung sind aber nur noch die Urmitglieder „Lizzie“ und „Tim“ die nun auch den Rest der Instrumente selber eingespielt haben. In dieser Doppel CD steckt sehr viel Kult und Fun mit drin, ich werde später noch auf die Bonus DVD zu sprechen kommen. „Hollywood Ghosts“ ist mittlerweile das siebte Album der ehemaligen „London“ Members. Das Album versprüht genau wie die alten Scheiben einen gewissen Kult und Kitsch Touch. Ganz ernst nehmen kann man die Band irgendwie nicht, wenn man sich Songs wie „Angelyne“ anhören. Hingegen rockt ein „American Baby“ echt wie Hölle. Das eben angesprochene „Angelyne“ ist eben aufgebaut wie ein Glam Rock Song der 70er, der hätte gut und gerne auch von „Slade“ oder „The Sweet“ stammen können. Happy Happy geht’s weiter mit „The Siamese Twins“ einem eher amüsanten Song mit einem tollen Chorus aufwartet. Eine schöne Ballade befindet sich auf „Hollywood Ghosts“ in der Form von „Someday“. Dieser Song ist mein Favorit auf diesem Album, eine tolle 80er Rock Ballade im großen Format. Das smarte „Get Outta Here“ schließt den Longplayer dann ab. Das Album ist relativ gut geworden, hier und da ein grober Patzer, dafür kommen wir nun auf die Bonus DVD zu sprechen. Genau so sollte man nämlich ein Reunion Album vermarkten. Erst mal ein volles Album und dann eine Bonus Disc mit nicht weniger als 15 Video Clips und Live aufnahmen. Alles natürlich zum selben Preis!! So befinden sich auf dieser DVD einige kultige Live Aufnahmen, alte amüsante Clips und ein paar Interviews. Hier wird also noch etwas geboten fürs Geld und das ist auch richtig so. In der heutigen Zeit der Musik Piraterie sollte man eben genau mit diesen Mitteln versuchen, Platten zu verkaufen. „Hollywood Ghost“ würde von mir nicht mehr als sieben Punkte bekommen, aber ich lege dank dieser coolen Bonus DVD noch einen Drauf und sage: Gut gemacht Jungs!!!

The originally instrumentation is only composed of “Lizzie” and “Tim” who have also played the rest of the instruments by themselves. behind this double CD is a lot of cult and fun, I’m gonna tell you a bit later about the bonus DVD. In the meantime, “Hollywood Ghosts” is the 7th album of the former “London” members. Like the older albums, this one can set a certain cult and kitsch touch. You can’t take this band absolutely serious if you’re listening to songs like “Angelyne”. Whereas “American Baby” rocks like hell. This already mentioned “Angelyne” is composed like a glam rock song from the 70s which could have been made by “Slade” or “The Sweet”. It’s going on quite happy with “The Siamese Twins”, a very amusing song with a great chorus. A beautiful ballad you can find on “Hollywood Ghosts” with “Someday”. This song is my favourite one, a great 80s song in a huge format. “Get outta here” is the concluding song of this disc. I think this album became quite good, here and there a rudely blooper, but for this we’re gonna talk now about the bonus DVD. Exactly like that one should market a reunion album. At first a full album and then a bonus disc not less than 15 video clips and live takings. Everything for the same price of course!!! So on this DVD several cult live takings are arranged, old enjoyable clips and a few interviews. This DVD has much going for the money, and that’s the way it should be. Nowadays, in the time of illegal downloading, one should try with these measures to sell albums. “Hollywood Ghost” wouldn’t earn in my opinion more than 7.5 points, but because of this cool bonus DVD, I’m giving you one more and have to say: Well done, guys!!!
