Runamok - Back for Revenge

“Thrash Metal Fans” aufgepasst: Aus der Asche von „Stormwitch“ kommen “Runamok”. Sänger und Gitarrist „Fabian Schwarz“ steht immer noch in der „German“ „Stormwitch“ Formation, begeistert aber hier mit etwas härteren Tönen.

Wer auf knallharte Riffs im Style von Jeff Waters „Annihilator“ steht, der wird dieses Album lieben. Das magistrale „Mother Earth“ eröffnet dieses tolle Album, dieser Song verfügt nicht nur über höllisch gute Riffs, sondern überzeugt mich mit einem fabelhaften Refrain. Wenn ich etwas an „Back for Revenge“ kritisieren muss, dann ist es das abscheuliche Cover Design, ein Clown mit einer Pump Gun, na ja tut mir leid, aber das ist absolut nicht mein Fall, schade eigentlich, da hätte man doch eher in die Old School Kiste greifen können?

Auf die Musik hat das natürlich keinen Einfluss, „Eraser“ geht wiederum ziemlich ab. Bei „Guilty“ wird ordentlich aufs Gaspedal gedrückt, dieser Titel geht ab wie eine Rakete und man wird gerade zu, zum Headbangen gezwungen. Der Gesang von „Fabian“ ist übrigens auch sehr Old School orientiert, sicherlich kein begnadeter Sänger, aber für diese Art von Musik perfekt, er erinnert mich etwas an „Dave Mustain“ von „Megadeth“. Das Album wurde übrigens auch vom eben genannten Frontman „Fabian Schwarz“ im eigenen Studio produziert. Der Titeltrack „Back for Revenge“ hat noch mehr Speed als „Guilty“. Yes, hier wird kompromisslos auf die Instrumente gehauen, ein Feuerwerk von Kraft und Aggression die uns hier um die Ohren gehauen wird. „Runamok“ können´s aber auch Gefühlsvoll, das beweisen sie mit ihrem Song „Deliverance“, der als Ballade beginnt und sich dann zur Granate entwickelt. Dieser Silberling weist kaum schwächen auf: Das Songwriting ist Sonderklasse, die Musiker sind unumstritten und zu guter letzt, auch die Produktion ist 1A.

Auf den „Crüe Klassiker“ „Looks that Kill“ hätten „Fabian Schwarz“ und seine Mannen aber verzichten können. Die Version hört sich einfach um 10 Klassen schlechter an, tut mir leid aber an so einem Klassiker kann man sich einfach nur vergreifen.

Fazit: Mit „Back for Revenge“ haben die deutschen Thrasher „Runamok“ ein Album veröffentlicht, der wohl jedem „Megadeth, Overkill oder Annihilator Fan“ das Herz schneller schlagen lässt. Killer Riffs und eine Unmenge an einfallsreichen Melodien. Jeder Old School Thrash Freak kann hier bedenkungslos zugreifen.
