Quiet Riot - Same

Das gleichnamige QR Album von 1988 hat eine spezielle Bedeutung für mich, es war eine meiner ersten CD's überhaupt und es war damals eine meiner Lieblings Alben. Ich hab die Scheibe in einem Plattenladen gesehen und hörte einfach mal rein, nach dem ersten Song habe ich sie mir gleich gekauft und wahrlich nie bereut. Ich glaube es war die einzige Quiet Riot Platte auf der Paul Shortino gesungen hat, ich finde seine Stimme aber super und er passt perfekt auf dieses Album, vom Opener "Stay with me tonight" gab es damals auch einen Clip, lustigerweise hab ich ihn mal auf dem ORF gesehen dem Austria Television. Der Song ist ein kleiner Hit und ist wie "calling the shots" ein genialer Ohrwurm. "Run to you" ist eine Halbballade und auch diese weis zu gefallen, sehr gefühlvoll gesungen von Paul. Mit einer cooler Rock Nummer gehts auch gleich weiter " Im fallin" schöner Refrain. "King of the Hill" fällt dann ziemlich ab mit dem Song kann ich echt nichts anfangen dafür ist dann "The Joker" umso besser, nettes Riff am Anfang, ein stimmlich toller Shortino und auch der Chor weis zu gefallen. Der nächste Song fand damals oft Platz auf einem Metal Ballads Sampler, der Song hat Kraft, Energie und findet einen echten Höhepunkt im Refrain, toller Song!!

"Coppin a feel" rockt dann tierisch ab, ein smarter Song den niemand besser als Paul singen könnte so frisch und frei: toniiiight im coppin a feel yeah , tolles Lied wie praktisch jedes auf diesem Album.

"In a Rush" ist der schnellste Song aber er gefällt mir nicht viel besser als "King of the Hill" aber zwei durchschnittliche Songs darf ein Album schließlich auch haben. Der letzte Song "Empty Promises" erinnert teilweise einwenig an Deep Purple von dem Synthis her, aber ein guter Abschluss eines in meinen Augen gesehenen tollen Albums.
