Pretty Boy Floyd - Size Does Matter

Reichlich verwunderlich, das sich der Schweizmaster noch nicht um dieses Album, seiner Fave-Band gekümmert hat. So bleibt auch mal ein Pretty Boy Floyd-Album für mich zum reviewen. „Size Does Matter“ ist das bisher letzte Studioalbum der Band, welches mit komplett neuem Material aufwartet. Danach folgte leider mal wieder nur Resteverwertung von bekannten Hits. „Size Doeas Matter“ fängt mit „Dead“, dem wahrlich schwächsten Song des Albums sehr unspektakulär an. Doch Steve Summers reist mit „Suicide“ das Ruder herum und liefert uns gewohnte Ohrwurm-Kost, sogar mit zarten Klavierklängen im Mittelteil. Wie schon so oft können Pretty Boy Floyd auch mit „Size…“ nicht am Meisterwerk „Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz“ heranreichen. Es kann doch nicht so schwer sein, noch einmal so eine Killer-Album abzuliefern, oder doch? Der Sound dieser CD geht halt den bisher eingeschlagenen Weg der Band weiter. Rau und ein wenig punkig. „I´ve got nothing“ rockt klassisch und es schimmern wieder die Punk-Einflüsse durch. Glamig sind PBF aber trotzdem, was allein die Stimme von Steve „Sex“ Summers“ ausmacht. Eine der ultimativen Glamrock-Sänger ever!

Ein paar Durch-Hänger-Songs gibt es auf diesem Album schon, so was wie „Earth Girls“ ist einfach öde, der Song ist genauso unspektakulär wie der Opener. Aber die Glamster setzen hier ein paar echte coole Nummern entgegen. Solche Kracher wie „Another Day( in the Dead of america)“, „Fuck the Rock“ oder „Things I Said“ machen die CD zum Pflichtkauf für jeden PBF-Fan und jedem Sleaze/Glam-Maniac kann ich diese CD empfehlen. So einen starken, düsteren Song wie „2Heads2Faces“ hätte ich von dieser Band aber nicht in meinen kühnsten Träumen erwartet. Das ist ein richtiges Highlight, mit schleppendem Rhythmus, einfach cool!!

Der Rest ist das übliche erwähnte PBF-Gerocke zwischen Glam-, Sleaze und Punkrock. Jeder der die Band bisher die Stange gehalten hatte, wird von „Size does Matter“ nicht enttäuscht sein. Ich persönlich gebe die Hoffnung nicht auf, dass es diese Band noch mal schafft noch ein Album ohne Füll-Lieder aufzunehmen.

So stays once a Pretty Boy Floyd-album for me to review too. „Size Does Matter“ is the till now last studioalbum of the band, which attends on with complete new material. Unfortunately after that follows only remnant utilization of known hits. „Size Does Matter“ starts very unspectacular with „Dead“, the truly weakest song of the album. But Steve Summers tears the rudder around and delivers habituated catchy tune-cost, even with smooth piano tunes in the middle part. Already how so often can Pretty Boy Floyd don’t reach at the masterpiece „Leather Boyz with Electric Toyz“ with „Size…“ too. It can’t be so difficult, to deliver such a killer-album once again, right? The sound of this CD goes along the entered way of the band till now. Rough and a little bit punky. „I’ve got nothing“ rocks classic and the punk-influences shine through again. But PBF are glamy for all that, what the voice of Steve „Sex“ Summers makes alone. One of the ultimative glamrock-singer ever! A couple of failure-songs already exist on this album, like „Earth Girls“ is just boring, the song is exactly unspectacular like the opener. But the glamer conter with a couple of real cool numbers. Such Banger like „Another Day (in the Dead of america)“, „Fuck the Rock“ or „Things I Said“ make the CD to the duty-purchase for every PBF-fan and can recommend this CD to every sleaze/glam-maniac. I wouldn’t have expected such a strong, dark song like „2Heads2Faces“ in my daring dreams. That’s a right highlight, with dragging rhythm, just cool!! The rest is the usual mentioned PBF-rocking between glam-, sleaze and punkrock. Everyone, who has supported the band will not be disappointed of „Size does Matter“. Personal, I don’t give up the hope, that the band make it once again to record an album without fill-songs. (Translation by Dominic)
