Motorcity Brags - You don´t Deserve anything better than this

Eine echte Packung kommt da aus Italien zu uns herüber. Die Motorcity Brags fegen gerade mit ihrem ersten Full-Time-Player durch meine Bude. Das Trio aus Turin geht auf ihrer ersten CD richtig fetzig und punkig zu Werke. Leider nicht ganz so sleazy wie ich es erst gedacht habe, aber es geht schon gut zur Sache. „You don´t deserve anything better than this“ bietet uns 10 Songs, welche starke von den Ney New Dolls, Hanoi Rocks, Ramones und auch Motörhead beeinflusst sind. Mit der zunehmenden Spielzeit dominiert zwar der Punkrock, und leider geht das ein wenig auf die Abwechslung. Ein wenig Langeweile schleicht sich hier nach 5 oder 6 Songs ein.

Eine Coverversion in der Mitte des Albums lässt einen dann wieder aufmerksam zuhören. Nur habe ich ehrlich gesagt keine Queen-Coverversion von den Motorcity Brags erwartet. Es ist mir auch beim 2ten Mal hören aufgefallen, das „Sleeping on the Sidewalk“ sich auf die Scheibe geschlichen hatte.

Ich gebe gerne zu das ich beim ersten Hören dieser CD nach 4 Songs so gut wie abgeschaltet habe. Doch das war nur der erste, und auch leicht falsche Eindruck gewesen. Hört man die CD öfter so kann man schon ein paar coole Songs herauspicken. „Punk Rock Hero“, „Blowjob Queen“ oder auch „Hooligan“ sind solche Lieder die man sich merkt. Einzeln gesehen machen die Songs sogar richtig Spaß. Es kommt mir dann oft der Vergleich mit den Amis von Ironhead, nur das Virginias Finest über die gesamte Albumlänge begeistern und fesseln können.

Ein schlechtes Zeugnis braucht man den Motorcity Brags aber nicht ausstellen. Die Band steht noch am Anfang und hat zeit sich zu entwickeln bzw. an ihrem Songwriting zu arbeiten. Es ist ja noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen.

A real hit in the face is what you from this band from Italy. Just in the Moment the Motorcity Brags are stormin through my stereo. The trio from Turin are really punk and Rock´n Roll on this CD. It is their Full-length-debut. A bit sad to say, that they are not so sleazy like I thought first.

10 songs in the vain of New York Dolls, Hanoi Rocks, Ramones or Motörhead you get on “You don´t deserve anything better than this”. Sure like I said that the punk rock vibes are dominating here. Sometimes I get a bit bored; if you listen to the whole album you will miss something. It talks for the Motorcity Brags, that they have a cover version of Queen in the middle of the CD. I was surprised to find here “Sleeping on the Sidewalk”. For my shame I haven’t noticed it when I listen to the CD the first time.

If you have the balls to give the band a chance and take 2 or 3 rounds with this album. You can find some cool songs, like “Punk Rock Hero”, “Blowjob Queen” or Hooligan”. If you pick just one or two songs, than they are much better that in the row with the whole album. I’m a bit sorry to say that, but some separate songs are much more fun to listen than the whole CD.

Sometimes the Motorcity Brags reminds me to the US-Band Ironhead, but they are not in the same league with Virginia Beaches Finest.

But you don’t have to worry about Motorcity Brags, this is the first CD and not bad at all. The Band is just at the beginning and they have all the time in the world to work on their skills and the song writing. A good start is made, and if you’re interested in this band go and check:
