Mechanix - Regenerator

Dieses Melodik-Hardrock-Quintett, unter N.V.S bekannt, wurde von Sänger John D´Angelo und Bassist Danny Pisano in San Jose 1989 gegründet. In den frühen 90igern haben sie wirklich alles versucht um einen Record-Deal zu erlangen, aber leider passierte es nie für sie. Sie entschieden sich ein selbstbetiteltes Album auf ihren eigenen neunzig Volt-Aufzeichnungen herauszugeben.

"N.V.S." war eine limitierte Auflage, welche die Band nicht sehr berühmt machte und im Sommer 1993 war D´Angelo der Erste, der die Band verließ. Die anderen gingen auch ihre Wege, aber alle vier blieben im Musikgeschäft. Nachdem ein Freund, ein paar alte N.V.S. Songs, einige Zeit später einer handvoll europäischer Labels präsentierte, antwortete als erster Khalil Turk von Escape Musik. Er brachte sie unter dem Namen Mechanix und ihrem Debut-Album „Regenerator“ heraus, dass in England Re-mastered wurde. Wenn du dir die Songs anhörst, ist dir sofort klar, dass sie eigentlich mehr Aufmerksamkeit früher verdient hätten. Sehr charakteristisch für Ihren Sound ist John D´Angelos hohe Stimme. Zusammen mit den schneidigen Gitarrensolos von Dave Gundacker, dem etwas eintönigem Bass, dem strickten Schlagzeug und ein paar Keyboardklängen, dann hat man bestimmt ein Album, dass für Fans der 80´s Melodikrockszene für Interesse sorgt. Für meine Begriffe hätten sie mehr aus den Songs machen können, so klingen sie recht eintönig und mit der Zeit bestimmt langweilig. Vorteile bringen mit Sicherheit, dass John teils wie Queensryches-und TNT-Sänger klingt und teils in die Musiksparte wie Fifth Angel oder Tour De Force eingereiht werden können. Um nicht ganz so negativ zu klingen, kann ich noch meine Favourites nennen: „Nobody´s Hero“, „Justice“, „Night of the Danger“ und „Half Past Midnight“ bringen die 80´s zurück. Für ein Debut-Album sicher nicht schlecht und sicher Wert für einige Aufmerksamkeit!

This melodic-hardrock-quintet that begins as N.V.S, was founded by vocalist John D´Angelo and bassistplayer Danny Pisano in San Jose in 1989. Early 90´s they did all to get a record deal, but unfortunately it never happened for them. They decided to release their self-titled album on their own Ninety Volt Records. "N.V.S." was a limited release, which didn’t make the band famous and by the summer of 1993, D’Angelo was the first to leave the band. The other band members also go their own ways, but all four stayed in the music business. After a friend of D´Angelos a time later presented some of the old N.V.S. songs to a handful of European labels was one of the first response Khalil Turk of Escape Music. He released them under the nickname Mechanix and their first debut-album „Regenerator“ that have been re-mastered in England. If you listen the songs, it´s quite clear that they should merit earlier more attention. Very characteristic for their sound is John D´Angelos high-pitched voice. Add to that dashing guitar solos of Dave Gundacker, the monotonous bass, the knitted drums and a couple of keyboardsounds then you have an determine album for fans of the 80´s melodicrockscene provides some interests. For my concepts they could have made more of the songs, they sound is quite monoton and after a time most boring. Advantages are for sure that John partly like Queensryches and TNT singer sounds and partly can be put in to the music division like Fifth Angel or Tour De Force. To sound not quite so negative, i still can mention my Favourites: „Nobody´s Hero“, „Justice“, „Night of the Danger“ and „Half Past Midnight“ brings the 80´s back. For a debut-album not bad and surely worth for some attention!
