Madball - Legacy

Bisher habe ich immer einen grossen Bogen um Hardcore Bands gemacht, dennoch waren mir “Madball” natürlich seid je her ein Begriff. In der US Hardcore Szene gehören „Madball“ zusammen mit „Agnostic Front“ zu den absoluten Kings, die unglaubliche viele Bands beeinflusst haben, jüngstes Beispiel wären da zum Beispiel „Hatebreed“. „Madball“ wurden übrigens 1988 von „Freddy Cricien“ (Bruder von Agnostic Front Sänger Roger Miret) in New York gegründet. „Cricien“ ist heute übrigens 29 Jahre alt, was schon unglaublich ist, wenn man bedenkt wie lange es die Truppe schon gibt.

Kommen wir nun aber auf „Legacy“ zu sprechen, das neue Album erscheint bei „Roadrunner Records“ die wie schon so oft eine Band verpflichtet haben die den Nerv der Zeit treffen. Ich bin wirklich kein Hardcore Fan, aber was „Madball“ hier abliefern ist einfach nur geil. Es fliegen uns 16 Songs um die Ohren die schlicht und einfach „in den Arsch“ treten. Wenn ich mir dieses Album so anhöre, frage ich mich, ob ich mir die alten Scheiben wohl auch besorgen sollte, diese Jungs sind ja so was von klasse. Jeder Song trifft ins Schwarze, mich überwältigt die Power, die Aggression und die phantastischen coolen Refrains. Man höre sich zum Beispiel den kraftvollen Titeltrack an, oder „Damned“ so etwas gefällt auch einem „Thrash Metal“ Fan, wie ich einer bin. Die parallelen zu Metal sind nämlich durchaus vorhanden, das hört man auch bei den speziellen smarten Refrains. Was im Gegensatz zu Thrash Metal fehlt, sind natürlich die Solos, aber das hier ist halt Hardcore und dafür blasen uns die Jungs mit schnellen, kurzen Granaten Tracks weg. „Legacy“ empfähle ich natürlich jedem „Madball“ und Harcore Fan, aber auch Thrash und Speed Metal Fans, „Madball“ sind einfach zu gut um sie zu ignorieren: Worldwide: HC United sag ich da nur!!!

So far, I always have done a big curve around hardcore bands, nevertheless “Madball” were an idea for me. “Madball” belong together with “Agnostic Front” to the absolute kings in the US-hardcore scene, which have influenced many incredible bands, the youngest example would be “Hatebreed”. Well, let’s talk about “Legacy”, the new album isssues on “Roadrunner Records”, which already have often commit a band to hit the nerve of time. I’m really no hardcore fan, but what “Madball” deliver is just cool. 16 songs fly around the ears and they are simple to kick “in the ass”. When I listen to this album, I ask myself, whether the old disks should buy, these guys are so cool. Every song hits into the black, the power overwhelmes me, the aggression and the fantastic cool choruses. You listen as example to the powerful title track or “Damned” something like this likes a “Thrash Metal” fan too, like I am. The parallels to Metal are absolut available, that can you hear at the special smart choruses too. What in contrast to Thrash Metal is missing, are the solos, but here it’s just hardcore and for this the guys blow us away with fast, short grenade tracks. I naturaly recommend “Legacy” to every “Madball” and hardcore fan, but to thrash and speed metal fans too. “Madball” are just too good, to ignore them. Worldwide: I only say hc united!!!
