Hush - II

Ganz am Anfang gab es einmal eine Band in Norwegen mit dem Namen Headstone. Nachdem sie Support-Akt von Uriah Heep waren und auch mit Quireboys in Irland getourt hatten, nahmen sie in Dublin ein Demo auf, mit Top-Produzent Nick Tauber (Def Leppard, Ufo, Marillion und Deep Purple). Nach mehrmaligem Wechsel der Bandmitglieder, kamen sie schlussendlich zu diesem Line-up: KEITH KRISTIANSEN (guitars, keyboards) PATRICK SIMONSEN (vocals, guitars) ROD RUTLE (drums) STEVE TITZ (bass) TERRY SMITH (Hired Piano/Organ). Sie begannen mit den Songs in einem Stil, der seine Vorläufer in Journey, Foreigner, John Waite, Van HALEN, Heart und The Babys gehabt hat. Die CD hat einen wundervollen Sound, ist also sehr gut aufgenommen und gemixt. Gleich der erste Song „The Restless Ones“ haut richtig gut ins Ohr rein und macht freude auf mehr. Zwar etwas aggressive Gitarren, aber deshalb find ich den Song auch, echt gut. „Don´t Turn Around“ ist eine sehr harmonische Ballade. Bringt einen richtig zum Nachdenken. Hier sollte man unbedingt den Text anhören. Mit einem etwas ruhigeren Song geht’s auch gleich weiter. „Till We Become The Sun“ wird mit einer akkustik Gitarre unterstrichen. Sehr gefühlvoll und eine perfekte Stimme kommt hier hinzu. „Don´t Say Goodnight“, „Is it Good enough?“ und „Another Girl“ sind im mittleren Tempo und nichts besonderes. „Forever“ ist die zweite Ballade. Mir persönlich ist sie zu langweilig, bringt kein echtes Gefühl hervor. „Like Love“ ist mir zu country-mässig. Simonsens Stimme erinnert mich hier stark an Tyketto Sänger Danny Vaughn, auch etwas Whitesnake angehaucht, haut mich aber nicht vom Hocker. „The Real Thing“ ist schon etwas besser. Etwas blues, ein wenig akkustik/Elektrik Gitarre mit tollem ungewöhnlichem Sound. Lässt einen richtig mitreißen. Der letzte Song „In My Dreams“ hebt als einziger Song ungewohnte Töne an. Ein Mix aus andauernden Keyboard-Klängen ,die an Bongos erinnern mit einem schönem Gitarren/Keyboard-Solo. Das Endprodukt spricht für sich selbst, da die Band eine knusprige Peilaufnahme und ein wirklich aufregendes und frisches Stück des melodischen Hardrocks produziert hat!

In the beginning, there was a band in Norway called Headstone. After playing support for URIAH HEEP and touring with QUIREBOYS in Ireland, they recorded a demo with top producer NICK TAUBER (DEF LEPPARD, UFO, MARILLION and DEEP PURPLE) in WINDMILL LANE Studios, Dublin. After several chances of the band members they came finally to this line-up: KEITH KRISTIANSEN (guitars, keyboards, backing vocals) PATRICK SIMONSEN (lead vocals, guitars) ROD RUTLE (drums) STEVE TITZ (bass, backing vocals) TERRY SMITH (Hired Piano/Organ). They started the songs, in a style that has had its antecedents in JOURNEY, FOREIGNER, JOHN WAITE, VAN HALEN, HEART and THE BABYS. The CD has a wonderful Sound, so it´s taken and mixed very well. At once the first song „The Restless Ones“ joy hits correctly into the ear purely well and makes you feel to hear on more. A little aggressive guitars but also extremely well, therefore I find the song great. „Don´t Turn Around“ is a very harmonious ballad. Make one think correctly. One should certainly listen to the text here. With an little smoother song it goes further. „Till We Become The Sun“ is underlined with an akkustik guitar. Very sensible and a perfect voice join here as well. „Don´t Say Goodnight“, „Is it Good enough?“ and „Another Girl“ are in the middle speed and nothing special. The second ballad is „Forever“. Personal it is too boring, I doesn't produce real feeling here. „Like Love“ is to much country-like for me. Simonsens voice reminds me of Tyketto singers Danny Vaughn, also a little Whitesnake breathed here strongly, however, doesn't hit me of the stool. “The Real Thing“ is already a little better. A little blues, a little akkustik/electrical equipment guitar with terrific unusual Sound. Has one dragged along correctly. The last song „In My Dreams“ raises strange tones as the only song. A mix from continual keyboard sounds which remind of bongos with a beautiful guitars/keyboard solo.The results now speak for themselves as the band has produced a crisp sounding recording and a truly exciting and fresh piece of melodic hard rock!
