HOUSE OF SHAKIRA ist eine schwedische Rock-Schöpfung, die ungefähr 1991 in Stockholm begannen. Ihre Musik erinnert jedenfalls auf keine ähnliche Band. Das Motto von H.O.S heisst „Versuch jede Idee mit einer offenen Meinung“, deshalb steuert jedes Mitglied der Band eigene Ideen bei um diese Musik einzigartig zu machen. Sie bestehen aus fünf sehr verschiedenen Persönlichkeiten, die nur eine Sache zusammen verbindet – Songs zu schreiben und sie gut vorzuführen. Der Schlüssel, dass diese Band funktioniert ist ein guter Song, der Style oder Sound spielt nicht so eine Rolle so lange der Song gut ist, ob wir das nun mögen oder nicht! Sie produzieren Melodikrock von sehr guter Qualität, weil sie mehrere Musikstiele vermischen – die Stimme gleitet, die Melodien steigen auf und die Gitarren bringen das alles zusammen. All diese Bestandteile machen House of Shakira zu einer ausgezeichneten lauschenden Sensation. Auf Grund, der Vielfalt der Songs und der Musik sind sie keine typische Hardrockband, sie wollen ein breites Publikum und Fan-Gesellschaft finden. Ihr Debüt-Album „Lint“ (bluestone) kam 1997 heraus und war ernannt als das beste Album in vielen Magazinen. Grosse Pläne wurden für ihr zweites Album „On the Verge“ gemacht, aber alles versagte dann seit Bluestone, ihr Record-Label, plötzlich verschwunden waren im letzten Moment bevor es zu spät gewesen wäre für das Release. Eine schreckliche Situation für jede Band. Sie unterschrieben mindestens doppelt so viele Record-Deals, wie sie Alben herausbrachten, aber das hinderte sie nicht daran weiter gute Songs zu schreiben. H.O.S. kamen wieder in die Szene als sie 2000 bei MTM unter Vertrag das Album „Best of 2“ herausbrachten, die „Lint“ und „On the Verge“ einschlossen, eine Art Best of Album. Das Album erhielt begeisterte Kritiken und war benannt „Das beste AOR-Album in zehn Jahren“. Die Songs haben sich im Stil nicht geändert, ich persönlich finde sie recht groovig mit einem orientalischen Touch wie bei „Morning over Morocco“, „Method of Madness“ oder „The Song Remains“. Etwas schnellere Gangart ist bei „Elephant Gun“, „Love was Good“ auszumachen. Die drei extra Bonustracks finden auch Geschmack mit „Susan“ grooven die Gitarren nur so hinzu. „You Touched Me“ ist ein toller Song verglichen mit Journey, schoene Refrains, tolle Melodien und enorm gute Riffs. „Antelope“ ist für mich nicht so gelungen aber nichts desto trotz ein richtig guter bluesiger Song. Einfach mal reinhören, ist bestimmt für den einen oder anderen was!

HOUSE OF SHAKIRA is a swedish rock formation that started out in Stockholm around 1991. Their music doesn't remind of any comparable band. The band's motto is "Try every idea with an open mind", therefore every member of the band contributes with own ideas to make this music unique. They consists of five very different personalities that only have one thing that ties them together – to write and perform good songs. A good song is the key to make this band function, style or sound doesn’t matter as long as the song is good. H.O.S producing melodic rock of the very highest quality because they mixed hard rock with several music styles - the vocals soar, the melodies rise and the guitars bring it all together. All these components make House of Shakira an outstanding listening sensation. Due to the diversity of the songs and the music, they aren´t a typical hard rock band; they will find a wider audience and fan community. Their debut “Lint”(bluestone) hit the stores in 1997 and were nominated as best debut album in a lot of magazines. Big plans where made for the release of the second album “On the verge”(bluestone) but everything failed since the record company disappeared from the face of the earth just in time for the release. A bad situation for every band. This is a band that signed at least twice as many record deals as they’d released records so the situation didn’t make them stop working and writing good songs.HOUSE OF SHAKIRA returned to the scene in the year of 2000 with the release of “III”(MTM). The record received rave reviews and was called “the best AOR-album in ten years”. The Style of the songs are the same, they really groove with a Middle Eastern touch like as „Morning over Morocco“, „Method of Madness“ or „The Song Remains“. A bit harder are the songs „Elephant Gun“, „Love was Good“. The three extra bonustracks also are great with „Susan“ the guitar grooves just like that. „You Touched Me“ is a good song similar like Journey, nice refrains, great melodies and really good riffs. „Antelope“ sound not so good for me, but nor really bad it´s just a touch more blues in it.
