Great White - Hooked

Ein kleines Meisterwerk veröffentlichten „Great White“ 1991 – nur schon das Cover Design ist sensationell, ne Blondine an einem Anker, echt genial gemacht.

„Hooked“ ist „Rock n Roll“ Pur, locker und flockig gespielt, mit einer Leichtigkeit wurden hier ein paar absolute Killer Tracks aufgenommen. „Call it Rock n Roll“ ist schon ein Klassiker, der Rhythmus ist echt cool. „The Original Queen of Sheba“ gefällt mir von der Melodie her sehr gut, einfach sehr fein und doch rockig gespielt, das Album ist allgemein sehr schön abgemischt. „Jack Russel“ singt wie immer sensationell, sie versprüht wahre Magie aus, ihn hört man aus tausenden heraus und das macht „Great White“ so speziell. Bei „Lovin´Kind“ schmelzen die Herzen dahin, eine sehr gefühlsvoll gesungene Ballade die von einem Klavier begleitet wird, klasse. Bluesiger wird es mit „Heartbreaker“ passt mir dennoch nicht schlecht der Song „Congo Squad“ beginnt akustisch und auch ziemlich bluesig, „Jack“ singt ziemlich speziell, der Song zieht sich ziemlich schleppend heraus, bis es dann n bisschen schneller weiter geht mit einer Orgel im Hintergrund, das ist jetzt ein Song der mir nicht sonderlich gefällt. Erneut ein Akustischer Song „South Bay Cities“ der aber nichts anderes als „Rock n Roll Jam“ ist, mag ich. Mit „Desert Moon“ geht es dann aber doch noch zurück zu den elektrischen Gitarren, sehr straighter Track mit einem Hammer Refrain. In der Mitte bricht das Album leider ein wenig in die „Blues n Roll“ Schiene ab, ansonsten ist das Album erste Sahne und verspührt einen gewissen Charme, den man bei anderen Bands vergebens sucht. Das Cover „After Glow“ beendet ein tolles Album von das man auch heute noch spricht wenn man an „Great White“ denkt.

Mor into blues becomes it with "Heartbreaker" fits me nevertheless not badly the Song "Congo Square" begins acoustically and also rather bluesi, "Kevin" sings rather special, the Song pulls itself out rather sluggishly, to it then n little faster continues to go with an organ in the background, which is a Song that me not particularly pleases now. An acoustic Song "South Babe Cities" however the nothing different one than "Rock n roll Jam" is again, I love it.

With "Desert Moon" goes it then however nevertheless still back to the electrical guitars, to very straight song with a Killer-Chorus. In the center the album unfortunately breaks off a little into the "Blues n roll" rail, otherwise the album is first cream and spreads certain charm, which one looks for with other volume in vain. The Cover "after Glow" terminates a mad album of which one also today still speaks if one of "Great White".
