Frontline - The State Of Rock

Dass Meinungen auseinander gehen können, zeigt sich auch bei Sleaze Metal. Wurde Jörg erst mit dem siebten Album „The Seventh Sign“ von Frontline mitgezogen, sind sie für mich schon seit ihrem Debüt Album „The State Of Rock“ ein deutscher Geheimtipp. Die aus dem Frankenland stammende Formation mit Besetzung von Sänger Stephan Kämmerer, Gitarrist und Keyboarder Robby Boebel, Bassist Thomas Riess und Schlagzeuger Stephan Bayerlein gibt es schon seit 1989 und sind zu 100 Prozent dem melodischen Hardrock entsprungen. The State Of Rock kam dann endlich 1994 in die Läden und ist sozusagen auch ein wahrer Klassiker, welcher noch bis heute als schönstes Album der Band gilt. Dieses Album bedeutete auch den Durchbruch für die Jungs in Japan, wo sie den 10ten Platz in den Rock Sales Charts erzielten. Direkt nach dem Release gingen Frontline auf Tour in Europa und hatten die Ehre als Support für diverse Bands wie Gotthard, Crash Test Dummies, Bonfire, Tyketto und Casanova zu spielen. Wirft man die Scheibe in den Rekorder ein, wird man von vorne bis hinten mit melodischen Rocksongs bedient. Die Songs variieren mal von schnell bis hin zu langsamen und balladesken Rhythmen mit kräftigen Gitarrenparts und sehr schönen Texten mit leicht zu merkenden Refrains. Die Songs ziehen einfach jeden mit, auch wenn man nicht will. Man ist auch sicherlich schon einmal auf die Ballade des Videos „Another Love“ gestoßen, dass seiner Zeit bei Headbangers Ball auf MTV lief. Das Besondere an Frontline ist auch Sänger Stephan Kämmerer, der der Band, ihren ganz eigenen Flair verleiht. Er trifft sowohl die höheren, als auch die tieferen Töne sehr souverän mit Einflüssen eines Steve Perry, was schon sehr ungewöhnlich ist. Dieses Album ist typisch melodiöser 80´s Rock a la Journey, Danger Danger, Firehouse & Co.. Für Ihr erstes Album eine recht gute Leistung, auch wenn es hie und da noch an manchen Ecken fehlt!

Straightly after the release, Frontline went on tour in Europe and had the honour to open for various great bands such as Gotthard, Crash Test Dummies, Bonfire, Tyketto and Casanova. Throw the disk in the player and you get served from beginning till the end with melodic rocksongs. The songs varies time to time from fast up to slow rhythms with strong guitar parts and very nice lyrics with easy noticing refrains. The songs pulls simply everyone with, even if you don´t want. Some people have seen also the video to the ballad „Another Love“ for sure, that was shown to that time at Headbangers Ball by MTV. The special at Frontline is also singer Stephan Kämmerer who lends the band their completely own flair to the sound. He can sing the higher and the deeper tones so sovereign with influences like steve perry which is very unusual. This album is typic melodic 80s Rock a la Journey, Danger Danger, Firehouse &Co.. For their first album a really good achievement, even if here and there still at some hit a corner is missing!
