Crash Diet - Rest in Sleaze

Welch ein Freudentag, endlich bescheren uns die schwedischen Rocker von "Crash Diet" mit ihrem Debut Album. Halleluja, was für eine Offenbahrung liebe Leser. Nachdem Frontman "Dave Lepard" und seine Mannen einen Deal bei "Universal Music Sweden" eingesteckt haben, ging’s ab ins Studio und hier ist nun das Meisterwerk in vollem Pracht. Die jungen Schweden, machen nicht nur geniale Musik, sie verkörpern und leben das volle 80er Feeling von "Sex, Drugs & Rock n' Roll" in Extremo. Anstatt einem 08/15 Job nachzugehen, bastelten die Crash Kids ständig an ihrer Karriere und spielten unzählige Gigs im Land des besoffenen Elchs. Hier zu Lande kann man sich so etwas gar nicht mehr vorstellen, aber wie mir "Dave Lepard" schon im Interview versicherte, seien die Sozial Leistungen in Schweden so gut, das er noch nie gearbeitet hätte und dies mit Sicherheit auch nie machen werde. Nun ja, wenn man dann so ein Album wie "Rest in Sleaze" veröffentlicht das in Schweden gleich auf Platz 1 der Hard Rock Charts einsteigt und auf Platz 12 der normalen, kann man sich dann schon eher vorstellen, das "Dave" wohl recht hat. Wir haben euch die Band schon vor einiger Zeit in einem Interview genauer vorgestellt, gehen wir nun auf das Album "Rest in Sleaze" ein.



"Rest in Sleaze" wird eröffnet durch den Killer Track "Knokk 'Em Down", tja liebe Freunde, wie nicht anders zu erwartet, tritt diese Nummer hochkant in den Arsch, der Hit Song "Riot in Everyone" topt dann das Ganze dann noch um einiges. "Riot in Everyone" lief im Sweden Radio rauf und runter, wer den Titel kennt, fragt sich wirklich nicht warum, man kann ohne bedenken sagen, das dieser Song zu den ganz großen Klassikern zählt, nicht nur für "Crash Diet" sondern im gesamten Sleaze Business. Mein absoluter Favorit ist allerdings "Queen Obscene/69 Shots" oh mein Gott, ist dieser Track geil....bei so einem Mörder Tune fehlen mir echt die Worte. Man stelle sich 200 Groupie Bitches vor, 2 Tonnen Hairspray und 666 Kilo weißen Schnee und dann eine ausrastende Menge Kids, die skandieren "You're my Lady Queen Obscene", oh Hell Yeah, ja Baby genau das ist SLEAZE. Das Songwriting der Crash Kids ist so was von genial, das einem fast die Tränen kommen, "Breakin' the Chainz" glänzt mit unglaublichen Ohrwurm Qualitäten und "Tikket" rockt die Hütte in einer magischen Manier. "Tikket" kennen einige vielleicht noch von einem Rock Hard Sampler, ein spezielles "Thank ya & Sleaze ya" geht hier bei an "Daniel Böhm". "Out of Line" und "It's a Miracle" sind wunderbare Sleaze Rock Songs, die seines gleichen suchen.

"Rest in Sleaze" ist für mich das beste Debut Album, der letzten 15 Jahre, ich kenne keine einzige Band, die der Band momentan das Wasser reichen kann, klar die "Babylon Bombs" sind klasse, doch hier ist einfach alles dreckiger und es ist genau das, auf was viele Hair Metal Fans jahrelang gewartet haben. Vier Kids die nicht die Kohle als Motivation haben, sondern einfach nur geile Musik machen wollen und sich auf machen um den "Rock n' Roll" Dream zu erleben. Hoffen wir mal, das "Dave", "Martin", "Peter" und "Eric" es mit den Drogen nicht übertreiben und wir noch in den Genuss vieler "Crash Diet" Alben kommen werden. Wer nun gerne einen genauen Stil beschreib haben möchte, dem kann ich sagen, das sich die Jungs irgendwo zwischen "Mötley Crüe", Def Leppard" und "Pretty Boy Floyd" befinden. In einer Review von unserem verhassten amerikanischen Ex Mitarbeiter, konnte man kürzlich lesen das "Dave's" Stimme der von "Tom Keifer" (Cinderella) ähnelt, was ein absoluter Blödsinn ist. "Dave Lepard" verfügt über phantastische cleane Vocals und geile Screams, so richtig vergleichen kann man den guten Mann aber nicht mit einem anderen Sänger, "Dave" braucht das auch überhaupt nicht, dafür ist er viel zu gut. "Rest in Sleaze" ist das perfekte Hair Metal Album, das Teil MUSS in jeder Sammlung eines 80er Fans stehen. Leider ist der Longplayer bisher nur in Schweden erhältlich, wir sind aber dran, euch das Teil auch in Germany zum Kauf anzubieten über einen Online Shop, das Ganze wird auch für alle Schweizer Fans sehr interessant sein. Wie ihr seht, hat mich "Rest in Sleaze" total umgehauen und ich versichere euch, genau so wird es euch auch passieren und ihr werdet in SLEAZE ruhen Freunde.



Edit: Wie wir alle wissen, weilt "Dave Lepard" nicht mehr unter uns, zum Zeitpunkt des Reviews war er noch bei bester Gesundheit, wenn man dass so nennen kann. Ein weiteres Opfer des Fame, möge er in Frieden ruhen, ich werde dich nie vergessen.

What a happy day! Finally, the Swedish rockers of “Crash Diet” released their debut album! Hallelujah! What an epiphany, dear readers! After having pocketed a deal at „Universal Music Sweden“, the front man „Dave Lepard“ and his guys went to the studio and here is the masterpiece! Those young Swedish fellows don’t only do ingenious music, but also live the 80ies feeling of “Sex, drugs & Rock n Roll” extremely. Instead of doing a common job, “Crash Diet” wanted to work out their career and did almost uncountable gigs in the country of the drunken elk. No one can imagine this here, but in Sweden, the social aid is so good that “Dave Lepard” told me in an earlier interview, he has never worked before in his life und he surely won’t until he dies. Well, when you’re doing an album like “Rest in Sleaze” which was directly No. 1 of the Hard Rock Charts and No. 12 in the ordinary one, maybe it’s possible that Dave was right. We have already presented this band in a former interview, but now let’s go into the album “Rest in Sleaze”.



The opener of „Rest in Sleaze“ is the killer track "Knokk 'Em Down", well, dear friends, as we didn’t expected it else, this song is kicking your ass, the hit song “Riot in everyone” beats it all. “Riot in everyone” was played on the Swedish radio all day long; for anyone who knows this title, doesn’t really ask himself why one can say this song is doubtless one of the great classic songs, not only for "Crash Diet”, but also for the whole sleaze business.

My favourite song is for sure “Queen Obscene/69 Shots”, oh my god, this track is so fucking cool. When I hear such an amazing tune, I’m totally speechless. One has to figure 200 groupie bitches, 2 tons of hairspray and 666kg white snow and then a going overboard crowd of kids who yells “You’re my lady queen obscene”, oh hell, yeah, just THIS IS SLEAZE. The songwriting of the Crash Kids is so cool that I could cry. “Breakin’ the Chainz” abounds with its catchy tune quality and “Tikket” rocks the house in a magical manner. Some of you might remember “Tikket” of a Rock Hard sampler, a very special “Thank ya & Sleaze ya” to “Daniel Böhm”. “Out of line” and “it’s a miracle” are terrific Sleaze Rock songs.

“Rest in Sleaze” is for me the best debut album since 15 years. I don’t know another band who could reach them; sure, the „Babylon Bombs“ are great, but this here is just more dirty and exactly what a lot of Hair Metal Fans have been waiting for since years.

Four kids who didn’t have the money as a motivation, but the aim doing great music and having the dream, to live their life in Rock n Roll. Let’s hope that Dave, Martin, Peter and Eric won’t exaggerate with drugs and we’ll be able to hear many more of their albums.

for all those people who would like to have an exactly description of their style, I think it’s something between “Mötley Crüe”, “Def Leppard” and “Pretty Boy Floyd”. In a review of our abhorred former American collaborator I could read recently that Dave’s voice sounds like the one from „Tom Keifer“ (Cinderella), just total bullshit. Dave Lepard is disposed of a great clean vocals and cool screams, it’s anyway difficult to compare this man to any other. Dave doesn’t need it at all, he’s too good for this. “Rest in Sleaze” is the perfect Hair Metal album, it must stand in every collection of a 80ies fan. Unfortunately, the cd is only available in Sweden yet, but we try to offer you those albums in Germany by an online shop; this might also be very interesting for all the Swiss fans. As you can see, “Rest in Sleaze” striked all of a heap and I can guarantee, you’ll also be amused and you’ll rest in SLEAZE, friends.
