Brazon Abbot - My Resurrection

Der bekannte Gitarrenvirtuose Nikolo Kotzev machte sich einen Namen durch die schwedische Band Baltimoore. Nach diversen Unstimmigkeiten im persönlichen, wie auch im musikalischen Bereich trennten sie sich jedoch. Also entschied er sich ein Soloprojekt zu starten und taufte das Ganze auf den Namen Brazon Abbot. So weit hat er bereits vier Alben herausgebracht „Live and Learn“ 1995, „Eye Of The Storm“ 1996, „Bad Religion“ 1997 und „Guilty As Sin“ 2003 mit Musikern wie Joe Lynn Turner, Glenn Hughes, Göran Edman, Thomas Vikström und etlichen mehr am Mikrofon. Nach dem Release von „Bad Religion“ hat Nikolo sogar an einer Rock Oper namens „Nostradamus“ gearbeitet, die Musik selbst geschrieben, produziert, gemixt, technisiert und Gitarre, wie auch einige Geigensolos selbst gespielt auf dem Doppelalbum! „Nostradamus“ bekam 2001 großen Anklang bei Kritikern und Fans. In den folgenden Jahren hat Nikolo Kotzev auch Alben für andere Bands einschließlich Saxon, Molly Hatchet, Company of Snakes und Rose Tattoo produziert und gemischt. Sein neuestes Werk heißt „My Resurrection“. Das Line-Up, welches durch die Jahre stets stabil war, ist jetzt geändert. Diesmal hat Nikolo vier Sänger beschäftigt – Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple, Malmsteen), Göran Edman (Malmsteen), Tony Harnell (TNT, Starbreaker) und Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse). Zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte von Brazon Abbot wird ein ausgewachsenes String Orchester von 31 Menschen in Nikolo´s Heimatland Bulgarien aufgenommen und fast vollständig durchgehen auf dem Album verwendet. Auch neu und mit von der Partie sind Keyboarder Nelko Kolarov, Bassist Wayne Banks und Schlagzeuger Mattias Knutas. Das Endergebnis kann sich zeigen lassen mit einer immens guten Produktion, verblüffendem Songschreiben und einer Leistung an Erfahrung beteiligt von jedem Einzelnen. Meine Favouriten sind „My Resurrection“, „Bad Madman“, „Flyin´Blind“ und „Another Day Gone“. Die Songs werden durch ihre hervorragenden Sänger unterstrichen und man kann auch die jeweiligen Einflüsse von Rainbow, Malmsteen, Starbreaker und Eclipse in den Songs finden. Leider entspringt bei mir der Funke für etwas Interessantes und Neues nicht. Mit der Zeit würde ich die Scheibe eher in die Ecke stellen. Mehr Anheizer und bombastische Songs fehlen mir hier einfach. Deshalb auch die etwas weniger Punktebewertung!

The well-known virtuoso guitarist Nikolo Kotzev make himself a name through the swedish band Baltimoore. After some various discrepancies due to personal and musical differences they splitted. Therefore he decided to start a solo project and baptized this wholes on the name Brazon Abbot. So far he released four albums „Live and Learn“ 1995, „Eye Of The Storm“ 1996, „Bad Religion“ 1997 and „Guilty As Sin“ 2003, featuring musicians as Joe Lynn Turner, Glenn Hughes, Göran Edman, Thomas Vikström and some more on vocals. After the release of „Bad Religion“ Nikolo started working on the rock opera „Nostradamus“, writing the music, producing, mixing, engineering and playing guitar as well as a few violin solos on the double album! „Nostradamus“ was released in 2001 which huge acclaim from critics and fans. During the following years Nikolo Kotzev has also produced and mixed albums for other bands including Saxon, Molly Hatchet, Company of Snkaes and Rose Tattoo. His new sensation called „My Resurrection“. The line-up which through the years have been fairly constant now is changed. This time Nikolo employs four singers – Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple, Malmsteen), Göran Edman (Malmsteen), Tony Harnell (TNT, Starbreaker) und Erik Martensson (Eclipse). For the first time in the Brazon Abbot history a full-blown string orchestra of 31 people, recorded in Nikolo´s home country Bulgaria, is used almost entirely throughout the record. The players are also new: Nelko Kolarov (keyboard), Wayne Banks (bass) and Mattias Knutas (drums). The final result can be pointed with an immensely good production, amazing songwriting and performing skills from everyone involved. My faves are „My Resurrection“, „Bad Madman“, „Flyin´Blind“ and „Another Day Gone“. The songs are underlined by their outstanding singers and one also can find the respective influences of Rainbow, Malmsteen, Starbreaker and Eclipse in the songs. Unfortunately, the spark doesn't arise with me for something interesting and new. With the time I would rather put the CD into the corner. I am simply missing more Killers and bombastic songs here. Therefore are also the little less Points!
