Boogie Stuff - Have Mercy

Aus dem naturschönen Freilassing in Oberbayern kommen Boogie Stuff und haben sich wie es sich für Leute aus dem Süden gehört, dem Southern/Blues-Rock verschrieben. Die Band gibt es schon ein paar Jahre und kann sich sogar damit brüsten das sie mit ZZ-Top zusammen gespielt haben. Auf jedem Bikerfest werden Boogie Stuff sicher mit offenen Armen empfangen, den ihr harter Bluesdurchtränkter Southernrock geht schwer in die Beine und rockt höllisch auf. Die Band um Sänger/Gitarrist Horst Tolks setzt bei ihren CDs, „Have mercy“ ist die mittlerweile dritte Silberscheibe, auf viel eigenes Material. Ein paar Coversongs, wie „Funky Town“ von Lipps INC, oder die grandiose Version von Thin Lizzys „Don´t believe a Word“- wunderbare Idee den Song in eine Ballade umzuarranggieren, hat es hier dann doch noch.

Aber auch die eigenen Songs können sich hören lassen, „Long way to Memphis“ oder „Muddy Waters“ rennen bei jeden Freund von ZZ-Top, Lynryd Skynyrd und Blackfoot offene Türen ein. Das Southern-Feeling wird teilweise mit Hammondorgel im Hintergrund und Background-Sängerinen noch verstärkt und bringt das ultimative Feeling in die heimische Bude. Der Band hört man die Erfahrung und Routine an, welche sie in jahrelanger Bühnenaktivität gesammelt haben an und sicher und easy spielen sich Boogie Stuff durch die gute Stunde feinster Mucke.

Es wird hier darauf hingewiesen das ein gewisser Jimmy Carl Black bei den Songs 11 bis 13 mitsingt, leider habe ich keine Ahnung wer der gewisse Herr ist.

Den Bajuwaren gelingt es quasi spielerisch den rauen Männercharme des tiefsten Südens der USA in dein Wohnzimmer zu tragen. „Homesick“ ist mit soviel Attitüde gespielt, das einem gleich das Gefühl von Heimweh beschleicht, auch wenn man gerade zuhause ist. Das ist geile und vor allem ehrliche Musik die einen fesselt und mit sich führt, weit raus in die Geschichten welche da in den Texten erzählt werden. Schon toll was Boogie Stuff, aus einem vermeidlichen angestaubten Genre wie dem Southernrock herausholen und es mit einer ordentlichen Portion Heavyness anreichen, so das auch der Hardrock-Fan nichts mit „Have Mercy“ falsch machen kann.

Zu allem übel fehlt mir die Veranda mit alten Schaukelstuhl, wo ich nach langen Tag auf der Strasse, den Tag standesgemäß mit Altbier (sorry, ihr Bayern, aber so was wie Weizen kommt mir nicht über Lippen haha) und eine Runde „Have mercy“ von Boogie Stuff ausklingen zu lassen.

Butt he own songs can let themself hear too, „Long way to Memphis“ or „Muddy Watters“ runs into the open doors at every friend of ZZ-Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blackfoot. Partly, the southern-feeling yet becomes stronger with Hammond organ in the background and background-singer and brings the ultimate feeling into the native shack. You hear the routine and the experience at the band, which they have collected no stages for years and Boogie Stuff play themself sure and easy through the good hour of finest sound.
