Babylon AD - Same

Hier haben wir wieder ein Schmuckstück aus den 80igern, die zum Teil doch recht erfolgreich waren in der Glam-Bewegung. Die Fünf-Mann Band Babylon A.D. mit dem Line-Up von Derek Davis (Sänger), Danny De La Rosa (Gitarre), Ron Freschi (Gitarre), Jamey Pacheco (Schlagzeug) und Robb Reid (Bass) gegründet in Oakland, Kalifornien 1986. Sie waren die erste Hardrockband, die bei Arista Records unterschrieben haben und ihr gleichnamiges Debüt Album erreichte sogar die Top 100 der Billboard Charts, während ihre Single „Bang Go The Bells“ einen geringfügigen Erfolg innerhalb 35 Wochen erzielte. Songs wie „Hammer Swings Down“, „The Kid Goes Wild“ und „Maryanne“ sind powergeladene Rocksongs. Ein Zusammenspiel von recht tonangebenden kratzigen Gitarren, eintönigem Bass und einem langgezogenem Singrhythmus. „Caught Up In The Crossfire“, „Back In Babylon“ und „Sweet Temptation“ sind eher im Mid-Tempo bewachsen und schön anzuhören. Mit „Desperate“ und „Shot O´Love“ wird die Herz-Schmerz-Grenze erreicht. Der einzige Ausrutscher dieser CD ist „Sally Danced“. Kann man eher in die Blues-Ecke stecken. Man stellt sich hier vor, man ist in einer verrauchten Bar und eine wundervolle sexy Sally tanzt vor aller Augenpaaren. Eine ganz tolle Leistung von den Jungs. Sollte man eigentlich im Regal stehen haben.

Once again a great Hardrock Highlight from the 80s that had minor success on the tail end of the glam movement. The Five-Man-Band Babylon A.D. with the Line-Up from Derek Davis (vocals), Danny De La Rosa (guitar), Ron Freschi (guitar), Jamey Pacheco (drums) and Robb Reid (bass) formed in Oakland, california in 1986. They became the first hard rock band ever signed to Arista records and the debut album reached the Top 100 on the Billboard charts during its 35 week run, due in part to the minor success of the single "Bang Go The Bells." Songs like „Hammer Swings Down“, „The Kid Goes Wild“ and „Maryanne“ are powerful rocksongs. An interplay of scratchy guitars quite who sets the tone, monotonous bass and a sustained singing rhythm. „Caught Up In The Crossfire“, „Back In Babylon“ and „Sweet Temptation“ rather are in the Mid-Speed overgrowned and beautifully to listen. With „Desperate“ and „Shot O´Love“ is the heart pain limit reached. The only gaffe of this CD is „Sally Danced“. You can rather put this song into the Blues-Corner. Imagine that you are in a smoky bar and a wonderful sexy Sally dance in front of every eye couple. A quite terrific performance of the guys.
