By chance I was drawn to the band Azraels Bane from Houston/Texas.
Their music is prescribed for the powermetal, progressive rock and hardrock.
What one notice just after the first run of the songs is the conspicuous similarity to Lillian Axe. Have they the same rhythm from the albums Poetic Justice and Psychoschizophrenia what the singing and the playing concerns. I wouldn't describe Azraels Bane as a copy of them, since they have diversified their own style in the songs. No miracle, since Gadler, Clifton, McFadden, Marches and Bragg, the music of legendary predecessors like Iron Maidon, Savatage, Lillian Axe and Queensryche embraced and further expanded. The band was formed in the summer of 2002. Because of playing alot in their area was the possibility given to play as support act for national acts such as George Lynch (Dokken), Quiet Riot, LA Guns, Lillian Axe, Angel and Zebra. Their own made CD recorded with Co-producer and engineer Gregg Gill (Distant Thunder, Seven Witches) was released in 2003. Re-released on Chavis Records their debut-Album „Wings Of Innocence“ in 2005 with the bonus Track „Diary Of A Madman“ and different artwork. It contains soaring vocals, shred oriented musicianship, five part vocal harmonies and an emphasis on memorable, hook-laden songwriting. To select a certain song would be a pure waste because one sensation follows after another and much solid Earwigs also, doesn't know where you should begin and stop. It is equal if you listen the opener „Shine“, the tangy songs „Rainbows Edge“ and „Chasing A Memory“ or the quiet „Foolish Pride“, „Saving Grace“ and „Merci“. Such an excellent quality and new imaginativeness haven´t I heard of a band for a long time. Azraels Bane are poised to make their mark on hardrock music. One gets really addicted to their music and also after some weeks listening never tired to listen them again. The band convinces me totally. Lovers of the melodic-, powermetal with a certain mysterious tic and modern metal should grasp it. Possible to order it in Internet or direct to Azraels Bane official website www.azraelsbane.com.
