Wenn Buckshot spricht
Wenn Buckshot von Dirty Rig Rede und Antwort steht, dann geht es irgendwann auch mal um die Bierflasche. So soll es sein und wenn sich die Scheibe auch nur halb so oft verkauft wie sie es verdient hat dann kann er sich in Zukunft noch einige Schoppen leisten. Hier ein paar Fragen für die sich Buckshot nicht zu schade war sie zu beantworten:

Das “Rock Did It!” Album hat auch in Europa diverse Ärsche getreten, aber warum lag der U.S. Version eine DVD bei während man in Europa einen Bonussong bekommen hat?
-Wir wollten die DVD auch für Europa zusammen mit dem Bonussong aber die Band hat letztendlich beratschlagt und entschieden darauf zu verzichten. So habt ihr dort drüben einen Bonustrack und ein anderes CD-Cover bekommen. Die DVD rockt verdammt.
Ich hab gehört ihr macht demnächst eine Europa Tour. Weiß euer Management nicht das Europa ein klein wenig größer ist als Großbritannien? Weißt du wer euer Suport Act sein wird oder gibt es schon Pläne für ein Tourpackage?
-Mensch, ich wünschte wir hätten mehr Zeit für eine komplette Europa Tour. Wir werden erst mal Großbritannien den Arsch aufreißen und kommen später zurück um in Deutschland, Frankreich, Italien und sonst überall zu spielen wo man uns sehen will. Wir sind wirklich hocherfreut in UK spielen zu können. Wir haben sogar ein 5K Review im Kerrang! Magazin bekommen. Der Ticketvorverkauf läuft hervorragend. Wir touren gemeinsam mit einer Band die sich “Disarm” nennt und aus England kommt. Ich glaub sie sind wirklich stark und ich freue mich mit ihnen die Partysau fliegenzulassen.
Wie schaut denn eure Setlist aus? Irgendwelche Warrior Soul Songs drin oder füllt ihr den Set mit älterem Material auf?
-Wir spielen nur Dirty Rig Musik. Die Setlist besteht zum größten Teil aus Material vom aktuellen Album. Wir spielen auch noch „Hitch Hiker“ und „GTO“ von unserer ersten EP welche nur in Nord Amerika veröffentlicht wurde.
Die meiste Kritik für euer neues Album musstet ihr bezüglich der Produktion einstecken. Ich finde das der Sound wirklich passend ist weil er das Gossen-Feeling vermittelt. Bevorzugst du selbst teurere Produktionen oder magst du es so?
Wir haben alles selbst gemacht. Unser Schlagzeuger Dave ist ein erstaunlicher Engineer. Jeder der ein Album machen will sollte ihm eine Email schicken. Wir alle haben unsere Einflüsse in das Album eingebracht. Ich würde daran nichts ändern wollen. Kleine Studios haben diese „Balls To The Wall“ Attitüde.
Manch einer behauptet Korys Stimme leidet unter dem exzessiven Alkohol- und Drogenkonsum. Wie vereint ihr das mit eurer Liveperformance? Habt ihr keine Angst dass die Show in die Hose geht wenn ihr zu sehr unter Strom steht?
-Korys Stimme ist kratziger aber sie rockt heftig. Wir sind bei jeder Show absolut drauf und wir reißen sie höllisch runter. Das ist es was wir machen. Einfach und simpel.
Gib uns mal ein paar Infos über dich. Was sind deine Einflüsse und welches Album rotiert derzeit in deinem Player.
-Als ich 9 Jahre alt war begann ich Saxophon zu spielen. Ich hab es durch meine gesamte Collegezeit gespielt. Darum steh ich auf einige dieser alten, großen Jazzmusiker. Aber was mein Bassspiel anbelangt, da war mein Vater mein größter Einfluss. Er hat mir gezeigt wie man Bass spielt. Er hat sogar den Bass auf „Throw Down“ auf der CD eingespielt. Ich wollte ihn unbedingt auf der CD haben. Danke Daddy. Derzeit läut bei mir “Hail To England” von Manowar. Fucking Manowar sind geil. Other Bands Play, Manowar kills!
Interessierst du dich für Sleazerock und stimmst du mir zu wenn ich Dirty Rig als “etwas andere” Sleazeband bezeichne?
Ich denke dass wir überhaupt eine „etwas andere“ Band sind. Nicht allzu viele Leute machen was wir tun. Ein Schreiber nannte uns einen Mix aus Pantera und Van Halen. Ich finde das kann man ganz grob über uns sagen. Wir haben diesen „Fleisch und Kartoffel“ Rock ´n´ Roll aber genauso die „“ir treten dir die Scheiße aus dem Leib“ Riffs. Aber ja, Drogen und Saufen sind Themen die Spaß machen darüber zu Singen.
Es ist kein Geheimnis das du ein leidenschaftlicher Biertrinker bist. Du weißt aber schon dass sich Millers, Bud und das ganze Amigesöff nicht mit „richtigem“ Bier messen kann?
Ich freu mich schon Europäisches Bier zu saufen. Aber ich sag dir eines… Budweiser ist „The King Of Beer“. Schau dir nur die Dose an.
Was sind eure Pläne für die Zukunft? Siehst du Dirty Rig als U.S. Band oder seid ihr auf weltweiten Erfolg aus? Schon Pläne für eine neue Scheibe? Gibt’s schon neue Songs? Schreibt ihr die auf Tour oder erst später?
Ich weiß nicht was Erfolg heute für eine Band bedeutet. Muss man 10
Millionen Alben weltweit verkaufen? Mein Ziel ist es, das wenn du unsere Cd kaufst und sie dir gefällt…ja dann hab ich meinen Job gut gemacht. Wir haben schon ein paar Riffs für die nächste Cd beisammen. Die Scheibe wird sehr anders werden als die aktuelle, das ist sicher.

Wir sind eine Bande von Rowdies. Wir lieben es zu feiern, laute Musik zu hören und wir haben alle dasselbe Ziel: Nicht eingesperrt zu werden.

-Ganz weit vorne Mötley Crüe. Vince und seine Jungs wissen wie man einen draufmacht und feiert.
“Space Age Playboys” oder “Salutations From The Getto Nation”?
-“Salutations”. Die “Space Age Playboys” habe ich nichtmal.
Randy Roads oder Eddie Van Halen?
Auf jeden Fall Eddie. Beides sind sehr gute Spieler aber Eddie steht über allem.
Dirty Rig als Vorgruppe von Poison oder ein One Night Stand mit Paris Hilton?
-Ich glaub ich nehme Poison. Ich stehe zwar nicht auf Bands die wie Weiber aussehen aber Paris ist wirklich verdammt hässlich.
Gibst du dein Geld für Tattoos oder einen 6er Pack Bier aus?
-Auf jeden Fall Bier. Ein Kumpel machte mir die ganzen Tattoos umsonst. Chip ist der beste!

The “Rock Did It!” album kicked serious ass over here in Europe, but why the U.S. version got a Bonus DVD while the European Version get a Bonus song? Will be the Euro track a Single B-Side in The U.S.?
Buckshot: We wanted the DVD for Europe too with the Bonus song but the band
was consulted against that idea. So you guys got the bonus track and a
different CD cover. The fucking DVD rocks man.
I heard you will do a European Tour soon. Doesn’t your Management know that Europe is a little bit more than the U.K.? Do you know who your Support act or are there plans that Dirty Rig will be Part of a Tour package?
Buckshot: Yeah I wish we had more time to do a complete European tour. We
are going to fuck the UK up first and them come back to play Germany,
France, Italy and who ever else will book us. We are really excited about
going over to the UK. We just got a 5K review in KERRANG! Magazine. The
tickets have been selling amazing over there already. We are taking out
this band called Disarm from England. I really think they are bad ass. Looking
forward to partying with them guys.
Whats about the Setlist? Any Warrior Soul Tracks will be played too or do you fill up the Set with older material from the Debut? Do you see “Rock Did It!” as the “real” debut album?
Buckshot: We just do Dirty Rig music. The set list is made up of material
mostly from this record. We play Hitch Hiker and GTO from our first EP
released in North America only.
The most critic for the new album came because the production. I think the sound fits very well because it spreads the Down-In-The-Gutter Spirit. Do you prefer a more expensive Production or do you like it like that?
Buckshot: We actually did everything ourselves. Dave our drummer is an
amazing engineer. Anyone looking to make a record should email this kid.
All of us really came together from all of our influences to make this CD. I
wouldn’t change a thing. Smaller studios just have that balls to the wall
attitude.
Some say that Korys Voice suffer from the excessive Alcohol and Drug using. What about your live performance. Don´t you are frightened of that the Gig can be too fucked up when you are too electrified?
Buckshot: Korys voice is more scratched but it fucking rocks. We gethammered at every show and we fucking throw it down. That’s what we do.Plain and simple.
Some info about you please. What are your influences and what album is in your player now? What band you dream of to share the stage with.
Buckshot: I started playing the saxophone when I was 9 years old. Played it
all through college. So I really love some of those old great jazz
musicians. But with my bass guitar my father is my biggest influence. He
showed me how the play the bass. He actually recorded the bass line on
ThrowDown for the record. I really wanted him to play on the CD. My thanks to
him. Right now in my CD player is Man O War "Hail To England". Fucking Man
O-War rules. Other bands play Man O War kills.
Are you into Sleazerock too and do you agree when I called Dirty Riga “different Sleazeband”?
Buckshot: I think we are a different band in general. Not many people are doing what we are. A writer I know called us a mix of Pantera and Van Halen. I think that’s us in a nut shell. We got that meat and potato rock & roll and then we have those fucking kick the shit out of you riffs as well. But yeah drugs and booze are fun to sing about.
Its no secret that you love beer so much. Do you know that Millers,Bud and all the other American beer can´t mess with “real” beer?
Buckshot: I am looking forward to chugging some Europeans beers. But I tell you what though.....Budweiser is the King Of Beers. Just look on the can.
What are the plans for the future? Do you see Dirty Rig as an U.S. only band or do you look for worldwide success? Any plans for another record? Are you still writing songs are do you want to do new material after the tour?
Buckshot: I don’t know what success now is for a band. Do you have to sell10 million worldwide? My goal is if you buy our CD and if you like it then did my job. We have been putting together some riffs for the next CD. Its going to be a lot different I can tell you that for sure.

Buckshot: We are a bunch of rowdy guys. We love to party, listen to loud music and we all share the same goal, not to get arrested.
