Eine Band welche sich Big Cock nennt, muss einfach mal bei uns zu Worte kommen. Ich habe mir zwar das Interview mit Gitarrist Dave Henzerling ein klein wenig ausführlicher gewünscht, doch Mann ja nicht alles haben.
Die beiden Scheiben „Year of the Cock“ und das neue Album „2nd Coming“ sprechen Bände und Big Cock sind eine Band die noch einiges im Sleazerock-Zirkus mitzureden haben wird.

Hey Dave, danke dir dass du dir die Zeit für ein Interview nimmst. Wie geht es dir?
Ich bin quietschfidel und ready to Rock´n Roll!
„2nd Coming“ von Big Cock ist nun da. Wie denkst du über das Album und bist du soweit mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden?
Ich wollte mal sagen, dass die neue CD einfach nur selbst betitelt ist, also „Big Cock“, aber es kann auch gerne „2nd Coming“ genannt werden. Weil es das 2te Mal von echten Slamin Cock-Rock ist.
Was ist denn so der Hauptunterschied zwischen der Neuen und dem Debüt? Ich würde das gerne mal aus deiner Sicht hören. Ich finde der Sound ist besser geraten, oder?
„Year of the Cock“ war sozusagen die Vorstellung davon was euch in der Welt von Big Cock erwartet. Wir haben es hart und schnell gemacht. Die neue CD zeigt mehr variableres Songmaterial und ist auch Abwechslungsreicher. Wenn du also meinst diese CD wäre gut, dann warte ab, bist du die nächste CD hörst.
Oh, da habt ihr ja was vor. Ich muss dir ein Kompliment zum Cover machen. Ich liebe es einfach. Du schaust es dir an und weißt was du zu hören bekommst.
Wir glauben nicht an Verzierungen und die Rock-Fans wissen das zu schätzen.
Gab es denn schon ein paar negative Stimmen zu dem Artwork? Ich könnt mir vorstellen im Erz-Konservativen Amerika, eckt man damit doch an, oder?
Es gab bisher noch keine negativen Äußerungen was das Cover angeht. Wenn du es nicht im Zusammenhang mit dem Titel siehst, dann gibt es auch nichts was man an dem Bild auszusetzen hat.
Ihr habt einen Video-Clip zum Song „Real Man“ gedreht. Erklär mal warum gerade dieser Song das Album repräsentieren soll?
Es ist einfach der perfekte Weg, das neue Album vorzustellen. Voll mit Monster-Gitarren-Riffs und ordentlich Cock-Rock, dazu noch Melodien zum mitsingen.
Hattet ihr zum ersten Album überhaupt einen Clip gedreht?
Wir werden vermutlich noch einen drehen und zwar für den Song „King of Cool“. Aber sicher ist das noch nicht.
Ich finde die 2te Hälfte von „2nd Coming“ ist nahezu unaufhaltbar. Einige echte Killer verbergen sich da. Woher nennt ihr überhaupt die Ideen für die Songs?
Es steht doch hinten auf der CD in den Liner-Notes „…women everywhere .. and us, of course..!!“
Das Intro in Kombination mit „Fucked Up“ ist eine geile Art das Album zu eröffnen. Meinst du nicht das einige arg konservative Gestalten sich darüber nerven?
Konservative Leute kaufen sicher keine Alben von einer Band, die Big Cock heißt. Das Lied ist für unsere Fans.
Wie erfolgreich war denn „Year of the Cock“ für euch?
Erfolgreich genug das wir versichern konnten eine zweite Scheibe zu machen. Wir waren recht überrascht über das Echo das wir für die erste CD bekommen haben. Es gibt kaum noch Bands die sich trauen echten „Cock Rock“ zu spielen und wir haben da wohl eine Marktlücke gefüllt. Passt uns sehr gut.
Was kann ich von einem Big Cock-Konzert erwarten?
Große Amps, Großes Schlagzeug, Geile Riffs, Kick-Ass-Gesang, viele Lichter, Alkohol, Mädels und das alles, bevor wir auf der Bühne sind und angefangen haben zu spielen.
Du hast schon in anderen Bands gespielt, welche waren das noch mal?
Ich habe mit King Kobra, Lizzy Borden und Keel gespielt. Robert, unser Sänger, hat schon für Lynch Mob und Cry of Love gesungen.
Erzähl uns doch mal ein wenig über die History von Big Cock. Wer hatte so die Idee für die Band und wie kamen die anderen Mitglieder hinzu?
„Mitglieder“!! die hatte ich. Big Cock war eine Band die darauf wartete dass sie passieren sollte. Wir vier haben es eben wahr gemacht bevor jemand anders es tat.
Ah, okay, ein wenig Info wäre aber nett gewesen. Bei den Sleazy-Or-Questions bist du hoffentlich etwas kreativer.

Ich komme drauf zurück. „Sex, drugs&Rock´n Roll“ ist das ein Gimmick für dich oder ein echter Lebensstil?
Es ist natürlich unmöglich, das alles auf einmal umzusetzen, aber eines nach dem anderen, das ist der Schlüssel. All Things should be done in moderation, including moderation.
Wann hast du angefangen Gitarre zu spielen und wer hat dich beeinflusst?
Ich habe recht spät mit 15 Jahren erst angefangen zur Gitarre zu greifen. Meine Helden sind Richie Blackmore (Deep Purple), Ace Frehley von Kiss und Eddie Van Halen.
Also die Klassiker. Habt ihr mal über eine Europa-Tour nachgedacht?
Da gibt es viele Pläne in dieser Richtung derzeit. Mal sehen, wir würden uns aber sehr freuen mal auf die Europäischen Fans zu treffen.

“2nd Coming” from Big Cock is out now, how do you think about the Album? Are satisfied with the result so far?
Actually, the second album is self-titled (Big Cock), but it certainly can be regarded as the Second Coming – especially the Second Coming of real, slamming cock-rock.
What is the main difference between “Year of the Cock” and the new One for you? I think the sound is much better than on the first one.
Year of the Cock was an introduction to the world of Big Cock. We did it hard and fast. The new CD shows a little more song craftsmanship and a little more musical ability. If you think this one is good, wait until you hear the next one…
I must make a big compliment for the new Cover. I really love this one, if you look at it, you know what you get from the music.
We don’t believe in being subtle. Rock fans appreciate this.
Did you get some negative reactions for the new artwork? I mean for some people it could be to much or too macho.
We’ve had no negative complaints whatsoever. If you aren’t already offended by the name, then everything after merely continues to solidify the already obvious theme.
You did a video for the Song “Real man”, please explain why you have picked this song to represent the album?
It is the perfect way to introduce you to the new album. Full of monster guitar riffs and cock-rock posturing, with a melody you can sing along to.
Did you made a Video for the “Year of the cock”-CD,too? If yes, for what song?
We will probably make a video for the song “King of Cool” eventually.
I think the second half of “2nd Coming” is nearly unstoppable. These songs there are so outstanding. How do get the ideas for al of your songs?
It says right on the back of the CD in the liner notes: “…women everywhere…and us, of course..”.
The intro is way great and “Fucked Up” is a perfect opener. Do you think that you will get problems with songs like “Fucked Up”? I mean the conservative people and stuff like that.
Conservative folks don’t buy albums by bands called Big Cock. That song is for the fans that do.
How successful was the “Year of the Cock”-CD?
Successful enough to warrant making a second record. We’ve been amazed at the response we’ve gotten from both CDs. Apparently, no one has the balls to play cock-rock these days except us, so we’re merely “filling a need”, so to speak.
What can we expect from a Big Cock-Concert?
Big amps, big drums, great riffs, kick-ass singing, lights, girls and booze – and that’s before we even start playing…
Did you played in some bands before Big Cock?
I played in King Kobra, Keel, and Lizzy Borden. Robert sang in Lynch Mob and Cry of Love.
Let me know something about the History of Big Cock, I mean who came up with the idea to form this band and how do you find all the other members?
“Members” – I get it. Big Cock was a band waiting to happen. All four of us just made it a reality before anybody else.

I started playing around 15 years old. My heroes were Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple), Ace Frehley (Kiss) and Eddie Van Halen.
Any plans to tour in Europe in the future?
There are many plans in the works right now. We are excited about seeing all our European friends.
